Getting started
In about 15 minutes you connect two stores, match a product and watch a stock change travel between them — first as a preview, then for real.
Before you start
- Two Shopify stores you own, each with at least one product that exists in both stores with the same barcode (EAN/UPC) or, if you don’t use barcodes, the same SKU.
- In each store, inventory tracking turned on for that product at the location you want to share.
1. Install Qantory in both stores
Install Qantory from the Shopify App Store in your first store and approve the permissions (products, inventory and locations). Qantory opens inside your Shopify admin. Repeat in your second store.
Only the store that creates a sync group needs a paid plan; the other stores use Qantory for free. See Plans and billing.
2. Get the code of your second store
In the second store, open Qantory → Stores → Show my store code. The 6-character code works once and expires after 15 minutes.
3. Create a sync group in your first store
- In the first store, open Sync groups → Create sync group.
- Give it a name, keep the stock update mode Prevent overselling and leave Start in test mode on.
- Open the group’s Stores tab, type the code from step 2 under Add a store and choose Add to group.
4. Match your products
- Open the Products tab. Under Match products by keep Barcode, or choose SKU if your products have no barcodes.
- Choose Run product scan. The scan reads the catalogue of every store; large catalogues take a few minutes.
- Review the products marked Ready to confirm and choose Confirm all ready, or select rows and confirm them.
More in Matching products by barcode or SKU.
5. Choose the shared stock location
Open the Locations tab → Add shared stock location, name it (for example “Main warehouse”) and use Attach location to pick the matching Shopify location in each store. See Shared stock locations.
6. Check the setup and try test mode
The Setup tab lists what is still missing. When everything is done, change the stock of a confirmed product in one store. Within a few seconds the group’s Activity tab shows the update as a preview — the other store does not change yet.
7. Enable live sync
On the Setup tab choose Enable live sync and confirm. From now on a change in either store updates the other one, usually within a few seconds.
Remove a store or delete a group
A sync group is shared, and the other store may belong to someone else, so Qantory asks for that store’s code before it takes the group away from it.
- Delete a group: open the group’s Settings tab → Delete group. The group is removed from the store you are in. To delete it from the other store too, enter that store’s code (in the other store: Stores → Show my store code). Without the code, the other store keeps the group.
- Remove one store: on the group’s Stores tab choose Remove. Your own store can always leave; removing another store needs its code.
